Through the Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta (PHBIA) Rockford Developments has achieved the "Master Home Builder" designation.

The Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta is an independent nonprofit company providing a program for continuing education in Alberta for home builders, their staff and sales personnel.

The "Master Home Builder" designation was developed in 1987, after a comprehensive evaluation identified the strengths and weaknesses of new home construction companies. The study indicated areas of instruction necessary to the success of the builder and improving the construction quality of their product. The "Master Home Builder" designation is recognized by the Alberta Home Builders Association and the Alberta New Home Warranty Program.

The much coveted "Master Home Builder" designation takes two to five years to complete. The curriculum consists of 13 courses.

Curriculum and academic standards are industry-driven and designed to have practical relevance to the industry's ever-changing needs. The Institute is constantly reviewing and revising the courses to ensure the information is current. Each course is 32 hours in length plus projects and assignments. Builders are required to meet a set passing grade in all courses. Each course is taught by industry leaders and educators to ensure that only high quality education is provided.

In order for the builders to apply for their status at the completion of the required courses they must show proof of having a minimum of five years senior management experience, or ownership, in a residential construction company and proof of membership in good standing with the Alberta New Home Warranty Program and the Home Builders Association.

Each builder is required to renew his/her certificate every year and must take at least one course relevant to the industry and sanctioned by or delivered through PHBIA.

The Professional Home Builders Institute, in cooperation with Alberta New Home Warranty Program, also provides one day technical seminars for builders and site personnel. As a firm believer that knowledge is the key to satisfaction and performance, Rockford's managers and site supervisors are required to continually upgrade their skills and knowledge through the programs offered by PHBIA. Rockford's commitment to education, along with the support of the PHBIA and Alberta New Home Warranty, will ensure that Rockford is getting the most up-to-date technical information thereby ensuring Rockford's customers of a better built home.
